Eight Clinician Scientist positions (f/m/d) for new German Research Foundation funded program

The full time position is limited for 3 years.
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tübingen is looking for excellent, highly motivated Clinician Scientists for participation in the new German Research Foundation-funded Clinician Scientist Program Medical Innovation through Interdisciplinarity Clinician Scientist program (MINT-CS). The goal is to support the qualification of scientifically and clinically competent physicians of all disciplines in basic and translational research.

Clinician scientists are translationally trained physicians who at the same time pursue a structured and long-term scientific career. A significant hurdle lies in the "researching clinician" career path. There is rarely any time left over after the daily clinical tasks are completed. As a result, there are not enough clinician scientists
The MINT-CS program supports eight participants with personnel resources (fixed share of 50% of the total working time for scientific work, the remaining 50% will be covered by the host clinical department)) and flexible funds (3.000 Euro per year). The first phase of the program will start in summer 2023.

The program supports Clinician scientists for three years. During this time, you will be accompanied by a structured program, trained in key skills (third-party funding acquisition, leadership skills, patent matters, etc.) and supported in mobility projects. All participants will select a clinical and a scientific supervisor. The proposed research project should be related to basic sciences.
Criteria for application:
  • Being at least in the 2nd year of your residency/postgraduate training at the start of the program (exclusion: completed residency).
  • Doctoral degree with summa or magna cum laude
  • A total of 3 publications, of which usually at least 2 publications as first author
