Junior Clinical Translational Professorship - Imaging Host Responses (W1 Position, Tenure Track)

The Medical Faculty of the University of Münster has an open position for a

Junior Clinical TranslationalProfessorship (m/f/d)  Imaging Host Responses
(W1 Position, Tenure Track)

at the Department of Nuclear Medicine and the interfaculty European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI), commencing as soon as possible. The professorship will represent translational research in the field of molecular imaging of host responses in non-tumorous and tumorous disease with a focus on the integrated and comparative characterization of sterile and infectious immune responses versus those in the tumor
microenvironment. It will be positioned at the interface between the faculty’s research foci ‘inflammation & infection’ and ‘cell differentiation, regeneration and neoplasia’ within the WWU-wide research profile ‘cell dynamics and imaging’. Research will range from preclinical studies in disease models to investigator-initiated clinical trials. Given the strong translational aim the position is targeting physicians and the successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art imaging and therapy infrastructures both at the new Multiscale Imaging Centre MIC (preclinical PET, SPECT, CT, PET-MRI, optical imaging, photoacoustics, cyclotron with R&D radiochemistry) and the Dept. of Nuclear Medicine (PET-CT, PET-MRI, GMP PET radiopharmacy, own 10-bed ward for theranostics). Nuclear Medicine physicians will be offered a part-time appointment at the Department of Nuclear Medicine. In addition, this Junior Clinical Translational Professorship introduces a new and attractive early professorial tenure track level to the already existing DFG-funded Clinician Scientist programme CareerS at the Medical Faculty.

The Medical Faculty expects active collaborations with the existing collaborative research programmes such as the Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1450, the Clinical Research Unit CRU 342, the CRC-TRR 332, the West German Cancer Centre (WTZ), the recently established Research and Treatment Centre TRACI, and the Cells-in-Motion Interfaculty Centre.

The prerequisites for consideration include a higher education degree, academic qualification as substantiated by publications and third-party funds, and pedagogical aptitude in university teaching.

The position is limited to three years with the possibility of a three-year extension following a positive interim evaluation. After a maximum of five years of employment, an evaluation process will commence to determine whether the candidate’s personal achievements meet the criteria for a permanent appointment as W2 professor.

Documents in support of an application, enclosing CV, scientific career, structured catalogue of publications, acquired third-party funds, an overview of teaching experience and an innovative teaching concept should be submitted using the online portal of the Medical Faculty https://berufungsportal.uni-muenster.de by 27.04.2023.
