Medical Director

Medical Director for the Department of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Paediatrics at Nykøbing F. Hospital

As Medical Director, you can now become the focal point of a department with several specialties at a dynamic, smaller hospital, where we focus on a high level of professionalism, new ideas and on our common management task.

Welcome to Nykøbing F. Hospital
We offer you the position of Medical Director at Nykøbing F. Hospital, which is the healthcare hub for 150,000 residents of Lolland, Falster, Møn and South Zealand. As a place of education, as a workplace and as an emergency hospital with the highest professionalism and service. We have a flat structure and room for differences. This gives room for you and your colleagues to develop and for us to try out new ideas. The department is responsible for the entire gynaecological, obstetric and paediatric area, and there are a total of about 120 employees. Along with the Chief Midwife and Head of Nursing, you are the department management. There are three senior consultants in charge of the specialties, and currently 16 doctors in gynaecology and obstetrics and 17 doctors in paediatrics, including junior doctors.

“This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark on how a department with multiple specialties works and develops. With about 1,000 births a year, the department is part of the history of many families. It is a huge responsibility and this, together with the many other tasks the department handles, makes it one of the central departments at our hospital. Currently, we are helping Zealand University Hospital with births, and we are working on getting more complex birth processes to the department,” says Deputy Director Peder Fabricius.

Become a key player in a changing healthcare system
We can give you the opportunity to get on board at a time when a great deal is going well and where there are also areas where we can do even better. Our department management must bring the specialties ever closer together and constantly consider how to get the best balance in the interests of the individual patient, finances, the breadth and depth of professionalism, as well as our interdisciplinary collaboration. There will be exciting management decisions – every day.

“The healthcare system is undergoing changes at the moment. We are part of one of the smaller hospitals, and this requires that we, as the management of a department with several specialties, take the lead in taking responsibility, testing new ideas and working across divides – while at the same time having an eye for both our day-to-day tasks and the complex processes,” continues Senior Midwife Anne Frandsen.

Even better patient pathways
Finally, we offer a chief medical position where your inspiring and clear management must ensure that the Department of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Paediatrics maintains a high professional level and a stable operation that gives time, space and energy to work with quality, coherence and well-being. At the same time, you will also be the one who gets things sorted out when interdisciplinary coordination and prioritisation happens in the hospital. You will work in close collaboration with hospital management and the other medical directors at the hospital.

“We need a medical director who works upwards, sideways and downwards in the organisation and at the same time maintains focus on our core task – namely to help the people of this region in the best possible way. This requires good collaborative skills, being able to see the whole picture and a good deal of creativity in a hospital of our size,” continues Senior Consultant Lisbeth Jønsson.

A natural gathering point
We expect you to be passionate about the management task and motivated to set the direction for the entire department, have solid clinical experience and you are a specialist in Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Paediatrics or a fourth specialty. We expect you to have a broad and strong network that contributes to the department’s recruitment opportunities. Finally, you may have experience of improving research, as well as being part of and contributing to an inspiring environment right across a hospital. You should have, or want to take, education in management at diploma or master’s level.

You are good at relationships and have a clear leadership and communication style that creates commitment, well-being and results. You are visible and ever-present by nature. You are reliable, with a strategic eye for developing interdisciplinary collaboration, contributing to our culture of trust, openness and high professionalism. You are persevering and able to prioritise the scarce resources. Finally, you are ambitious, innovative and have a flair for both health economy and health management.
