Psychiatry Region Zealand is looking for a Medical Director for Mental Health Services South

Based in beautiful surroundings in Vordingborg, you will have the overall managerial responsibility for the important work that Mental Health Services South carries out for mentally ill patients who need to get back to enjoying a good life.

We offer a workplace, which is permeated by a focus on people who are having a difficult time and deserve better, which is why our work is both important and meaningful. Our work focuses on ensuring that patients experience treatment on their own terms and that they are at the centre of their own patient pathways. We work in a larger geographical area, which covers Guldborgsund, Lolland, Næstved and Vordingborg municipalities.

We offer a good partnership with the competent Head Nurse, and together you will have the opportunity to spearhead the quality of the daily operations among our approximately 450 employees. Mental Health Services South is a diverse workplace where we are very good at finding creative and strong solutions to operational challenges with great flexibility. It is important for us to get more specialist doctors and nurses on board in our department.

We also offer you a workplace with many committed and experienced forces that possess an abundance of courage to contribute to the continued development of quality in the work and a structured clinical approach. We are in favour of an equal multidisciplinary approach, whether we are doctors, nurses, psychologists, specialist psychologists, social and health assistants, social educators, dieticians, physiotherapists and occupational therapists or administrative staff. The staff unit in Mental Health Services South will help you and the Head Nurse with the administrative and practical aspects on a daily basis. You will report to the Psychiatry Management team and be part of a close workplace relationship with the other medical directors in Mental Health Services.

Overall, the department has achieved good results in relation to the right of treatment and inquiry, patient involvement and reduction of the use of coercion with continued possibility of development. The same applies to the collaboration between outpatient wards and the region’s other hospitals, municipalities and general practitioners, so that patients are ensured coherent patient pathways. We look forward to continuing the development of a targeted approach to recovery in the autumn.

What we expect from you
You are visible, present and can set a clear professional direction for how we can create an even better mental health service. We are looking for a Medical Director who will thrive on setting the direction for a high professional standard, as well as ensuring that it is implemented. Therefore, you must be good in building relationships so that the entire organisation follows you with a high level of well-being and professionalism.

We will also welcome your positive attitude, high level of energy and infectious sense of commitment - even when we are busy or problems mount up. You will be expected to take leadership of a clear structure and practice, a high level of competence and coherent patient pathways - whether this is in terms of the indoor and outdoor functions or external collaboration. In that way, we believe that together we can provide the best treatment for our patients. Just as we put the patients at the centre, you must be able to prioritise your time so that you also have the necessary insight into the employees’ framework and conditions to succeed.

You are a specialist in psychiatry, have managerial experience from psychiatry and preferably management qualifications, although the latter is not a requirement. You must also have experience with and motivation for a wide range of strategic tasks and day-to-day operational tasks. It is essential that you have concrete ideas and experiences for our on-going task of recruiting, retaining and developing the next generation of psychiatrists.
