The Knappschaft Kliniken University Hospital Bochum is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible:

Professorship (W3 equivalent) as Director of the Institute of Radiology, Neuroradiology and Nuclear Medicine (successor to Prof. Dr. Werner Weber) (m/f/d)

The institute has excellent equipment at its disposal, including a PET-CT scanner (another one is currently being tendered), two MRI scanners (1.5 and 3 T), two CT scanners, a digital volume tomograph, a SPECT-CT scanner and two angiography machines. The main focus of radiological care is on interventional neuroradiology, diagnostic neuroradiology in collaboration with nuclear medicine, with a particular emphasis on the clinical areas of neuro-oncology, neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy imaging, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and the diagnosis and interventional therapy of liver diseases.

A positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements, as well as proof of particular aptitude for academic teaching, are required, as is a willingness to participate in academic self-administration. Proof of specialist medical qualification in radiology must also be provided. The following are also expected:

  • A high level of commitment to teaching;
  • A willingness to engage in interdisciplinary scientific work;
  • A willingness and proven ability to attract significant third-party funding for research projects;
  • Additional training in interventional radiology with modules E and F.

Additional training in radionuclide therapy is desirable. The field of nuclear medicine can be pur-sued in cooperation with other disciplines.

The successful candidate is expected to integrate into the faculty's main areas of research (on-cology, neuroscience and protein sciences). Clinical-scientific cooperation with institutions of the Faculty of Medicine and the UK RUB in the existing main areas of research and development, as well as participation in existing and future joint research projects, are desirable.

The appointment procedure will be conducted by Ruhr University Bochum in agreement with Knappschaft Kliniken University Hospital Bochum. Employment will be based on a private-law employment contract. The position will be affiliated with the university in accordance with Sec-tion 9 (2) HG NRW.
