ARE YOU AN ENTHUSIASTIC PSYCHIATRIST LOOKING FOR A NEW CHALLENGE

Landspitali - The National University Hospital of Iceland, is looking to expand the team  of Consultant Psychiatrists. Landspitali is the leading mental health services provider of Iceland. We are located in Reykjavik, Iceland, one of the most vibrant cities of  culture in Europe with outstanding opportunities for outdoor activities at its doorstep. Landspitali employs around 6,000 people and provides specialist health services in inpatient, outpatient and emergency department.

We are looking for Psychiatrists to join our Adult Mental Health teams in the following units:

  • Acute Inpatient Unit
  • Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Addiction Psychiatry - Inpatient Unit
  • Two Rehabilitation Units (Mood disorders and Psychosis)
  • Outpatient Services

We seek Psychiatrists with outstanding communication skills, professional ambition and interest to work with individuals suffering from severe mental disorders. The positions are available from the 1st of January 2021 and the starting date is  negotiable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations; makes diagnoses and prescribes treatment
  • Participation in multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Participation in diverse educational activities and teaching of medical students
  • Clinical mentoring of residents
  • Participation in out-of-hour duties

Qualifications:

  • Professional ambition and interest in working with people with severe mental illness
  • Independent and organized working methods
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Clinical competence in evidence based practices
  • Knowledge of current research to integrate into your practice
  • A license to practice psychiatry.
  • Fluency in English, willing to learn Icelandic

The assessment of the Landspitali Medical Position Advisory Board is based on the submitted application documents. Interviews will be conducted with selected applicants and decision on hiring for these positions will also be based on them. All applicants will be answered.
